Each month we’ll bring you a note from one of our therapists. It might be something they’re reading, learning or just something they want to share.
This month’s note is from Ellen Majewski, PT, DPT:
Being a former athlete in high level sports, pain, injury, and discomfort was inevitable. These experiences have allowed me to better empathize with my patients. I understand the physical and emotional toll injury takes on the body and mind. This common ground makes my clients comfortable with my plan of care.
Recovery takes a lot of time and effort. Results don’t come without commitment. Many of my hours growing up were spent on the gym floor. Every evening consisted of twenty free throws made in succession before supper. Some nights I ate late, but I always ate. With hard work and dedication, I improved, and I take this philosophy into my treatment room.
I can also relate to team play. My patients and I work together to achieve appropriate recovery and therefore, victory! When we work together, the healing process is just like an uncontested lay-up, smooth and successful.
Together, we are on a journey. Let’s go get that “W!”
