advanced treatment for
restricted areas of the body
What is Dry Needling?
Dry needling (DN) is a skilled technique that involves the insertion of a thin monofilament needle, without the delivering of corticosteroids, anesthetics, etc., into muscles, ligaments, tendons, subcutaneous fascia, and scar tissue. Dry needling may also be administered near peripheral nerves and/or nerve bundles.
What does an appointment with dry needling look like?
Sessions are always performed in a private treatment area where a skilled physical therapist assesses the areas where you would benefit from this treatment. Needles are inserted into the affected muscle(s) and if appropriate, electrostimulation is utilized to improve blood flow to the affected area and thus improve healing. Needling is always followed by movement retraining exercises to help maintain results.
How does this help?
Dry needling treats a variety of neuromuscular conditions by stimulating tissue healing and improving tissue and joint mobility which play a role in creating pain reduction.
